My list of Apps to make travel better. What’s Yours?
The world of travel has changed. It’s well-connected and much more organised but now our travel needs are different and probably we all are looking more to enjoy our holiday. Here’s a list of travel App which I am very fond of and i think they have been very useful for me when I travel.
1. Google Maps and Navigation:
The best maps out there probably with best navigation. It helps you cut down those stops to ask for direction. However it’s not always right (at least here in India), many a times it takes you through city instead of bypassing it. So be careful not to always rely on what google map is saying. The caveat is you need a data connection to use it.
I find it the best available offline maps for both android and Iphone. Normally I use both sygic and Google maps in conjunction. On highways I use sygic and on city roads i tend to trust google more.
The third most used app by me. It helps me track my expenses while on the more. You can put your expense into categories (fuel, food etc) and you can even take a photo of your bill and expensify will do the rest using its smartscan feature. Later you can pull out the report of your trip expenses.
4. Google Keep:
The next most used app by me. If you have to take a quick note, pull out and keep it here. It sync back with your google account and later can be seen on your desktop.
Not the next but is one of the most important app. All my bookings including flight and hotels are on trip it. It saves me hassle of taking printout everywhere especially for hotel bookings. When i went to Great Indian Road Trip it helped me keeping all my hotel bookings organised at one place since i was moving almost everyday and had many hotels to stay during my trip. ANother good thing is scans your mailbox and add trips automatically. Their pro version has some cool feature including flight alerts etc.
6. TripAdvisor City Guide:
If you travelling in a new city, i bet you will need this app. From finding restaurant, attraction, hotels and more it will really help. Also you don’t need data connection as it works offline too.
7. Tap and Say:
Haven’t used much but feel it’s important especially when you are travelling to international destination and facing language barrier. Try it out
8. Whats App:
Well it’s the most used app for chats but i used it in a different way on our ladakh trip. Creating WhatsApp group of fellow traveller will help to keep group together. We were in multiple cars and were able to track and talk each other during the whole journey.
These were list of my travel apps i often use. What’s your’s?
