Travelling? Strike a conversation to make your trip a memorable one
I saw a stranger in you before I met you.
Isn’t this what goes with everyone in this world? One of the very art of travelling is to meet new people, know about different culture, and engage with locals. The more you understand the culture, the more comfortable you are. So don’t feel hesitant to talk to anyone and everyone. It brings you outside of your guidebook and lets you enjoy the vacation. I have made some of my great friends on travel and have bought in some nice little story about the people i don’t know the name yet. Meeting people while travelling makes your trip a memorable one.
Travelling with Friends (Not Always):
Many a times i have heard from people, that i seldom know anyone in the group, how will i enjoy the trip? I say why not? This is a chance to know people? Don’t you know how a corporate team building events works?
With a Smile in lift lobby:
This is something i have found most of the foreigners do. So next time you check in to a hotel, say hi to fellow resident while you walk across them.
On your Jungle Safari:
A great way to start a conversation with complete strangers, and you know they are safe. Most of jungle safari is done on shared vehicle and that’s when you know those people. It’s not always the jungle and the tiger :). Show off that capture in your camera to start.
In the hotel:
There are many guest and the best place to know people. In the lobby, on the breakfast table, poolside bar. Careful not to be over to hurt someone’s privacy. On one of my recent trip, i met two fellow bikers from Germany and was interesting to know their views about our country.
A coffee house or a beach shack:
Another place to meet new people, a conversation here can really go long and interesting.
Many of us prefer home stays for their sheer value and experience. even some of the offbeat resort gives you similar experience with slightly better luxuries. Strike a conversation with owner, manager or caretaker here. They teach you a lot about locals and the surrounding.
A good old Train Journey:
Do i need to tell how many people you met on last train journey. While you may not always shared your number at the end of that journey, chances are you have done at least once.
